The office has gained a wide experience and expertise from several years of
practice in all areas of housing. Our portfolio of one-off housing projects
ranges from conversion of traditional stone barns and the renovation
of 19thcentury 'maisons de bourg' and extends to more contemporary
dwellings in
masonry and latterly, in timberframe.
Innovation
There is a great deal of scope for innovation in the design and delivery of
housing. We received much local interest for our approach to a suburban
timber frame house 'Lormont Residence' in 2005, with another prototype,
'Hauton Residence', due for completion in 2006.
We are also work with 'Esprit Bois' a French timber frame company to produce
cost-effective and environmentally friendly designs for one-off and grouped
houses.
Conservation/ Renovation
Conservation projects have been a large portion of PMA's work over the past
3 years. In addition to a significant number of new-build projects with a
conservation element PMA has completed several pure conservation projects.
The challenge in these projects is to retain the original character of the
property while at the same time adding 21st century services throughout. PMA
is familiar with the guidelines and procedures in relation to old structures
and the need for research and analysis. Where required, PMA will manage
other specialist consultants, contractors and suppliers during investigative
works. This has meant that over the past number of years we have formed
relationships with many figures in the conservation area particularly with
specialised trades in the Charente-Maritime, which enhances our ability to
deliver projects successfully.
